Airline Notes
- We have never experienced our luggage taking a
separate Central America vacation, but many have, so
take a carry on bag with overnight items. If taking a non-direct flight to Roatan and changing planes on the mainland,
if you have time it is recommended to check your
bags only to the mainland city, pick-up and then
recheck the luggage on the next flight. The hassle may be worth the
effort.
- Check the website of you carrier for luggage
weight. Many have changed from 70 to 50 lbs per bag.
- Flights from LaCeiba, San Pedro and Tegucigalpa to
Roatan are fairly frequent except late
afternoon and evenings.
Entry and Exit Requirements:- A valid
passport (expiring 6 months or more beyond visit) is
required.
- A $33
Honduras departure tax required when leaving the airport
which includes a post 9/11 security fee. Dollars or Lempiras can
be used for
this, but not credit cards.
- Confirming
"flights out" 24 hours before departure is highly recommended.
- A change of
flight plans costs $50 per person (except for emergencies)
- Parents
should obtain U.S. passports for children born in the U.S. prior
to travel. In the event of sole custody, the parent must submit the custody
decree to Honduras Immigration upon
departure.
- Additional
tourist information may be obtained through the
Honduras
Institute of Tourism hotline at 1-800-410-9608 (in the U.S.), M-F, 9
